UH-OH! AT THE MOMENT, THERE ARE NO TOURS AVAILABLE FOR SECRET LAGOON
High demand, seasonal availability and unexpected closures can be the reason. We're working on getting it up and running. Meanwhile, you can search for other activities on our website. We don’t want you to leave disappointed!
Generally speaking, the best time for your Secret Lagoon vacation is in July and August. These two months see the warmest temperatures, the least amount of rain, and the most daylight. It’s perfect for floating around lazily. However, if you’d like to see the Aurora Borealis while you’re taking a dip, then come February to March or September to October, especially during the spring and fall equinoxes.
Nearly every visitor on a Secret Lagoon tour flies into Reykjavík-Keflavík International Airport. From there, it’s over an hour’s drive in a rental car. Take Route 1 (The Ring Route) southeast to Route 30 north (Skeiða- og) and after about 30 kilometers, turn right at Hvammvegur (Ravine Way). From there, it is less than a kilometer to the Secret Lagoon. Taxis and public buses are to be avoided as both are very expensive.
Blue Lagoon is man-made whereas Secret Lagoon is all-natural. Blue Lagoon is situated in the center of a lava field and is abundant in silica. Secret Lagoon lies in the fertile green region of one of the most active geothermal areas in Iceland and is rich in sulfur.
Secret Lagoon stays at about 38 to 40 degrees Celsius year round and is quite warm.
