UH-OH! AT THE MOMENT, THERE ARE NO TOURS AVAILABLE FOR RED LIGHT DISTRICT
High demand, seasonal availability and unexpected closures can be the reason. We're working on getting it up and running. Meanwhile, you can search for other activities on our website. We don’t want you to leave disappointed!
Located in the city’s oldest area, the Red Lights District is surrounded by gorgeous canals and bars. Known as De Wallen in Dutch, it offers a glimpse into the prostitution business in the city and the lives of over 300 women who work here. The place comes to life after 10 pm and you can explore a variety of coffee shops, strip clubs, and sex theatres in this area. The red light district area is called ‘Rosse Burt’ in case you want to ask locals around.
Take some time to appreciate the Dutch architecture, eclectic Jazz clubs, cobbled streets, old-world charm, and illuminating canals when you are strolling through the busy streets. You can also visit an old church known as the Saint Nicholas Church built atop a 17th-century house.
The best time to visit Red Lights District Amsterdam is during the night. The place is less vibrant and attractive during the day. After 10 pm is when the maximum action takes place here. The lights illuminating the canals are also a sight to behold. We recommend booking your tour during the late evening hours.
The red lights district is located in the oldest area of the city which is easily accessible by train, cab or bus. If you are traveling by train, you can take one to alight at the Amsterdam Centraal station. Just next to Damrak or the main street, lies the red district. You can also travel via trams numbers 2, 12, 13, 17, and 26 to reach the tramstop Centraal Station.
You can visit major Netherlands attractions during your trip to the red light district. The attractions that lie in the close vicinity include Amsterdam Museum, Body Worlds, Oude Kerk, Amsterdam Dungeon, and Rembrandt House.
You can visit the Hash, Marihuana and Hemp museum located within the red light district area.
